Junior Anglers & Hunters of America, Inc. (JrAHA) is a Texas Nonprofit Corporation and qualified 501 (c)(3) public charity. Contributions to JrAHA are tax deductible under Section 107 of the Internal Revenue Code as well as bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under Section 2005, 2106 or 2522 of the Code. Background Resources and References: While numerous knowledgeable individuals have given input and opinions, and many articles have been written on the subject of the future of our natural resources, the formation of Junior Anglers & Hunters of America is based largely on the research data found at http://www.responsivemanagement.com/fishingprojects.html . [At “Fishing Reports” scroll down the menu to “Factors Related to Fishing and Hunting Participation Among the Nation’s Youth”.] This research and report was prepared by Responsive Management, Harrisburg, VA in 2003 under a grant from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Division of Federal Aid, Federal Aid in Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration, Grant Agreement 9/400-01-0010 Partnerships with Other Organizations: JrAHA has a MOA with Texas Parks & Wildlife (TPWD) that provides JrAHA with outreach & cirriculum materials and supplies for training as well as liability insurance when teaching TPWD courses. JrAHA-TPWD instructors are given Texas Department of Public Safety criminal background checks as standard procedures for being an instructor. Houston ISD, the largest in Texas and 7th largest in the nation, is currently working with TPWD and JrAHA to develop a pilot program to include Aquatic Education, Archery and Boating Safety into PE courses for credit. JrAHA is working with METRO to address the key issues of transportation, accessibility, security & safety for inner city families to access Outdoors opportunities. Collaberative Efforts; JrAHA collaberates with Children and Nature Network in promoting childrens connectivity to nature. JrAHA is a proponent of Richard Louv, author of the Last Child in the Woods and the philosophies and concepts he promotes. JrAHA during the summer of 2007 worked closely with "TakeMeFishing.Org" and their promotion to get kids outdoors fishing. |
