Governing Board
JrAHA’s Governing Board is an active group of instructors as well as having oversight responsibilities for the organization:
- Edgar L. Gerhardt, III founder and Chairman of the Governing Board is a qualified Area Chief in Aquatic Education, Certified Boating Education Instructor, certified as a NASP Archery Instructor Trainer and a Certified Hunter’s Education Instructor for TPWD and qualified as a Huntmaster for Texas Youth Hunts. For 15 years Ed held a USCG Master’s License for 100 gross tons vessels, Gulf of Mexico. Ed earned a BBA degree from the University of Texas with majors in general business and accounting and frequently attends seminars on accounting/business principles for the nonprofit sector. He also earned a certificate from Rice University in 2008 for completion of a 2-½ year program for Non Profit Organizations professionals.
- Robert Kester, AIA, Vice Chairman and the Construction Committee Chairman, is a Qualified Area Chief in Aquatic Education and a NASP Archery Instructor. Bob is an avid fisherman and hunter.
- Jerry Lerman, MS, LPT, who serves as Secretary of the Governing Board, also is a Qualified Area Chief in Aquatic Education.
- Garry J. Sullivan, one of the founders and a Qualified Aquatic Education Area Chief.
- Cecario Guerrero, who has for 12 years been a leader of the Houston ISD Ag-Science & FFA program teaching Hunters Education and Wildlife Management. “ CG” is also regional manager for the Texas Youth Hunt and Huntmasters.
- Michael Shirley, AIA LEED SP, and Qualified TPWD Aquatic Education Area Chief, NASP Archery Instructor and Hunter Ed Instruction
- Corey Allen, CPA represents KPMG, LLP on our board and is a TPWD Angler instructor and NASP Archery Instructor. Cory is a team leader for KPMG’s community service group volunteering as angling instructors.
